ECR 2026 — Vienna
We are proud to announce that Dr. Vitaliy Atamaniuk presented research at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR 2026), Vienna, March 4–8, 2026.
“Towards Non-Invasive Characterization of Thyroid Tissue: Feasibility of Magnetic Resonance Elastography with a Custom Passive Driver”

The study demonstrated the technical feasibility of thyroid MRE using a custom-built passive driver, achieving reliable shear wave propagation and reproducible stiffness quantification (4.11 ± 0.67 kPa) in 6 volunteers. This work represents an important step towards non-invasive biomechanical characterization of thyroid tissue in clinical practice.

LETTER IN SCIENCE
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Vitaliy Atamaniuk has authored a Letter published in Science, one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary journals.
“Ease the struggle of young researchers” V. Atamaniuk

The Letter calls for structural reforms to address the growing instability facing early-career scientists. It highlights how funding growth has lagged behind the expanding global research workforce, how geographic and institutional inequities compound existing barriers, and how academia risks losing a generation of talent without meaningful change. The author argues that funders and institutions must enable genuine early-career independence through predictable career paths, equitable resource access, and competitive salaries.

Master’s Thesis Defended
Congratulations to Łukasz Hańczyk, MSc. Eng., on the successful defense of his Master’s thesis in Radiography, completed on February 5, 2026. This achievement marks his second Master’s degree, following his earlier degree in Medical Physics, and reflects his strong commitment to interdisciplinary education in medical imaging.
We congratulate Łukasz on this important academic milestone and wish him continued success in his professional and scientific development.

New PhD Degree Awarded
We are proud to announce that Dr. Vitaliy Atamaniuk has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Science in Physical Sciences by the University of Rzeszów on January 12, 2026. His doctoral dissertation, “Development of Magnetic Resonance Elastography for the Measurement of Tissue Stiffness and Viscosity in the Human Body”, was recognized by the Council for its high scientific quality and strong application potential.
The research focused on advancing non-invasive Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) techniques for quantitative assessment of tissue biomechanical properties, combining technical innovation with clinically relevant applications. This achievement marks an important milestone in the ongoing research activities of our group.
